Outwitting the devil – Main takeaways and short book summary

98% of people in the world are drifters.

There are reason for this: Fear and Ignorance

Recently, I just finished reading the book “Outwitting the Devil” by Napoleon Hill, annotated by Sharon Lechter. Here are some takeaways. Just for reference.

1. Avoid drifting

Most of the people don’t have their own purpose. They just follow what others think is true, and follow all the actions of others.

It seems like a normal situation. But there are some problems with these.

It is painful and tiring.

You will find your life is mainly controlled by others. And acting the same habit everyday. In another word, acting like an NPC in a game.

People who move without a clear purpose are called drifters. Who fail to take ownership of their own life. Who works hard just to serve others. Who barely have freedom to choose what to do in life. Who waste all the “TIME” in their life

The only “Role” all human beings have, is only “yourself”. Which is the one who matters the most.

2. Make your “OWN” choices in all situation.

Want to solve this? Luckily, here is how you can do it.

Conquer fear.

Don’t care about others’ opinions. Follow your inner heart, what you think is right and your heart is calling you? Go ahead.

Imagine the worst case scenario, and accept it. Most of the time, it is not that scary. After you define that, you are good to go.

In reality, you will counter failure along the journey. But failure is temporary, each failure carries a seed of advantages.

But at least? You do your own thinking. This is the most important takeaways from this book: “Master The power of independent thought backed by definiteness of purpose”

Overall I appreciate this book so much.

For everyone reading until here, let’s make our own decision from today. Embrace all challenges along the journey. Also, embrace freedom and love yourself more! Let’s go!
